The
Vietnamese-Australian Medical Association (V-AMA) was
officially established on 18 November 2007 in Australia. It
is a not-for-profit organization created
by and for Registered Medical Practitioners of
Vietnamese descent who live in Australia.
V-AMA aims and strives:
- To consolidate the
existing spirit of solidarity among these
Medical Practitioners;
- To
provide the best quality of patients care;
- To
organise and participate in
Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional
Development (QA & CPD) activities in
accordance with Australian Health Authority's
guidelines;
- To
contribute to Charity work
to help the unfortunates in Australia as well as
overseas.
V-AMA would like to express its deep gratitude to the
Australian Government, all the Pharmaceutical Companies and
other bodies for having supported this Association in its
endeavours. V-AMA also wishes to co-operate with
all of you to serve the Australian community.

Structure
V-AMA is a non-profit organization. Its organizational
structure was set up in compliance with legal requirements
for becoming incorporated; indeed, V-AMA has been
incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1984
in NSW, Australia.
Being an incorporated association, V-AMA is committed to
adhere to "The Model Rules" as its own
Constitution.

V-AMA membership includes:
- REGULAR MEMBERSHIP - This category of members is
typically represented by Registered Physicians from
different States in Australia;
- ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP - Individual professionals can
join the V-AMA as Associate Members;
- OTHER CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP can also be established by
the AGM, should it be appropriate and in the best
interest of the V-AMA.
Policy
Put simply, the V-AMA policy consists of the
following 4 main points.

Ethics
In addition to being committed to fulfil its legal
responsibilities, V-AMA is committed to adhere to
International and National Codes of Ethics as documented in:
Collaboration with Other
Associations
To serve the community, V-AMA is willing and prepared to
collaborate with Other Associations for mutual benefit. All
collaborations, however, will be in compliance with the
V-AMA policy.
Interest of members
While serving the community, V-AMA will endeavour to
protect and promote legitimate interests of its members.
Accountability
Aware of its responsibility, V-AMA will hold itself
accountable to its members for the quality of the services
it gives.
Legality of V-AMA
Being an incorporated association, V-AMA "receives
recognition as a legal entity separate from its
members". Becoming incorporated is also "a
simple and inexpensive means of becoming a legal entity and
helps to protect members in legal transactions."
